Kuras and Morgan Named Athletes of the Week

Brittany Kuras was named the Most Outstanding Swimmer at the Mid-American Conference Championships. She became just the fourth swimmer in league history to win the award three times. Kuras won all three individual events she entered and anchored the winning 400 and 800 freestyle relay teams. On Thursday, she won the 200 individual medley with a season-best time of 1:59.20. On Friday, she won the 200 freestyle with a pool-record time of 1:47.24. On Saturday, Kuras won the 100 freestyle with a school-record time of 48.50 – breaking her own school record. 
Sophomore Mike Morgan became the first UB Bull in program history to win the heptathlon event at the MAC Championships on Saturday afternoon. Morgan not only set a school record with 5,704 points, he also broke the MAC and facility record in the process. He won the 1,000 meter run and the pole vault while finishing in the top three in six of the seven events on the weekend. For his effort, Morgan was named male field event athlete of the meet. He currently ranks fifth in the NCAA in the heptathlon.
