Dillard And Keller Named Athletes Of The Week

Keller & Dillard - Athletes of the Week

February 11, 2019

Cierra Dillard

Buffalo senior guard Cierra Dillard averaged a double-double on the week with 24 points and 10 assists per game to help lead the Bulls to wins over Toledo and Kent State.

Against Toledo, Dillard scored 17 points while adding four rebounds, nine assists and six steals. The senior then had a huge game against Kent State, narrowly missing out on a triple double with 31 points, 11 assists and eight rebounds. The 11 assists tied a career-high.

Dillard ranks third in the nation in scoring (25.0 ppg), first in free throws made (146) and fifth in free throws attempted (182) and final points (524).

Troy Keller

Troy Keller’s technical fall over Central Michigan’s Blake Montrie in the final match of the dual gave the Bulls an 18-17 win over the Chippewas on Friday night. Trailing by four points heading into the final match of the dual and needing a tech fall or better to win, Keller wasted little time. The junior 165-pounder used a reversal, two four-point near falls and a two-point near fall to jump out to a 12-2 lead after the first period. An escape and takedown in the second period upped his lead to 15-2. He was awarded a penalty point for stalling and his riding-time point secured the 17-2 tech fall, giving him the five-point win and the Bulls the 18-17 victory. It was the Buffalo’s first-ever win over Central Michigan, after dropping the previous 23 meetings.
