
Bulls Fall At St. John's, 4-3

QUEENS, NY - The University at Buffalo women's tennis team dropped their first match of the year on Friday afternoon as the Bulls lost a tough 4-3 decision at Big East foe, St. John's.
UB started off strong, taking the doubles point from the Red Storm. Junior Chantal Martinez Blanco and senior Lolade Ogungbesan led at first doubles, 5-3 when play was stopped as UB scored a pair of wins. Senior Tanja Stojanovska and sophomore Anna Savchenko won at first doubles, 6-3, while Mercedes Losada Rubio and Arianna Paules Aldrey came away with a 6-2 win at third doubles.
St. John's came back by winning four of the six matches in singles play to claim the win. UB picked up a pair of victories at second and third singles. Senior Tanja Stojanovska scored a 6-4, 6-0 win at second singles, and Ogungbesan won at third, 6-1, 5-7, 6-2.
The Red Storm won the other four singles matches, all in straight sets.
UB will remain on the road tomorrow when it faces Hofstra at 11:00 am.
