Bulls Split Doubleheader Against Bobcats

ATHENS, Ohio – The University at Buffalo softball team (13-36, 7-18 MAC) split their doubleheader against the Ohio Bobcats (30-20, 20-8 MAC) on Saturday afternoon. The Bulls upset the Bobcats in game one of the day, 5-3. Ohio earned a victory in game two of the day on a walk-off home run.
GAME 1 RECAP
It was a scoreless game into the fourth inning where the Bobcats struck first. Ohio hit two-solo home runs in the inning, taking a 2-0 lead.
After struggling to get a hit on the board, the Bulls made it count. Kate Vara hit a grand slam to give the Bulls a 4-2 lead. The Bulls added to their lead with Alyssa Wasielewski stealing second, Mia Mitchell scored on the throw.
The Bobcats chipped into the Bulls' lead in the bottom of the sixth to make it a 5-3 ball game. That's all that Ohio could do for a comeback as the Bulls came out victorious.
Alexis Lucyshyn threw a complete game allowing three runs, two earned runs on six hits, one walk, while striking out three.
GAME 2 RECAP
The Bulls looked for a sweep on the day against one of the top teams in the MAC. After a scoreless first three innings, Ohio scored in the fourth inning on an RBI single to right. The Bobcats led 1-0.
The Bulls tied the game at one with Lily Lauck hitting an RBI double to left center to score Mitchell. UB took a 3-1 lead in the sixth inning with Abbey Nagel doubling to left. Mitchell and Lucyshyn scored for the Bulls.
The Bulls looked to slam the door on the Bobcats, however they had other plans. After scoring on an RBI single, the Bobcats hit a walk-off three-run home run to win 5-3.
The Bulls will wrap up their season tomorrow against the Bobcats. First pitch is set for 11:30 a.m.
