• Eight Bulls’ Named MAC Distinguished Scholar Athletes

    CLEVELAND, OH - The Mid-American Conference announced today the Distinguished Scholar Athletes from the eight spring sports during the 2016-2017 academic season. Among the list of 186 athletes, were eight University at Buffalo student-athletes. This list was voted on by the faculty athletic representatives, and represents the "best of the best" from each sports' Academic All-MAC teams.

    BUFFALO, NY – For the second straight season, senior Vinny Mallaro was named to the ABCA/Rawlings Mideast All-Region second team. Mallaro was one of six Mid-American Conference players to earn a spot on one of the All-Region teams.
  • Logan Harasta Selected In 7th Round Of The MLB Draft By The San Francisco Giants

    BUFFALO, NY – For the sixth straight season, the University at Buffalo baseball team saw one of their own selected in the Major League Baseball Draft as junior right-handed pitcher Logan Harasta was selected in the 7th round of the 2017 MLB Draft by the San Francisco Giants. Harasta becomes the second highest UB player selected in the MLB Draft since 2000 as Tom Murphy was taken in the 3rd round by the Colorado Rockies in 2012.
  • Program Record Six UB Baseball Student-Athletes Earn Academic All-MAC Honors

    BUFFALO, NY – For the second straight season, the University at Buffalo baseball team saw six student-athletes earn Academic All-MAC honors, as announced by the conference office. Alec Tuohy and Ben Haefner earned the recognition for the third straight season while Brent Cleland. Ben Vey, Eddie Edwards III and Kyle Brennan each earned the nod for the second straight season.

    BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo baseball team saw four student-athletes earn All-MAC honors on Tuesday night, as announced by the league at their annual postseason awards presentation. The Bulls placed Ben Haefner and Chris Kwitzer on the First Team All-MAC squad, senior Vinny Mallaro on Second Team All-MAC and senior Alex Thrower earned All-Defensive team honors.
  • Baseball Swept In Saturday Doubleheader At Western Michigan

    KALAMAZOO, MI – The University at Buffalo baseball team (17-34, 8-16 MAC) dropped a pair of Mid-American Conference games to the Western Michigan Broncos on Saturday afternoon. The Bulls fell 7-2 in the first game of the afternoon and 7-3 in the second game as UB wasn’t able to secure a spot in the upcoming MAC Tournament.
  • Western Michigan Notches 6-5 Walk-Off Victory Over Baseball

    KALAMAZOO, MI – The University at Buffalo baseball team (17-32, 8-14 MAC) wasn’t able to hang onto the lead in the bottom of the ninth inning on Thursday afternoon on the road at Western Michigan as the Broncos provided a walk-off RBI single to collect the 6-5 win. The Bulls struggled all afternoon long with runners on base as they left 16 runners on in the loss.
  • Walk It Off One Final Time; Dudek Caps Bulls’ Final Home Game Ever With 10th Inning Blast

    BUFFALO, NY – It was a fitting end to the final home game at Amherst Audobon Field in program history for the University at Buffalo baseball team (17-31, 8-13 MAC) on Tuesday afternoon as senior second baseman Brian Dudek connected on a walk-off solo home run to right field in the 10th inning to give UB the 10-9 come-from-behind win over cross-town rival Niagara. The walk-off win for the Bulls was their first of the season and it marked Dudek's first career walk-off home run.

    BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo baseball team (16-33, 8-13 MAC) dropped their third straight MAC game to the Ohio Bobcats on a rain-filled Sunday afternoon at Audobon Field. The Bobcats were able to score three unearned runs en route to the series sweep of the Bulls on Senior Day for Buffalo.

Senior Kyle Brennan had himself a career day in the loss as he finished 3-for-4 with a career-high two home runs, seven RBI, two runs and two walks.
  • Dubin Strikes Out 11 Batters As Baseball Splits Sunday Doubleheader At Miami (OH)

    OXFORD, OH – Behind a career-high 11 strikeouts by junior Shawn Dubin in the first game of a doubleheader, the University at Buffalo baseball team (16-27, 8-10 MAC) split a Sunday doubleheader on the road at Miami (OH) to give UB the 2-1 series victory over the RedHawks. Dubin earned his fifth win of the season as he notched 11 strikeouts in the Bulls 1-0 victory before Miami came back and earned the 5-3 victory in the series finale.

    OXFORD, OH – Powered by a four-run first inning, the University at Buffalo baseball team (15-26, 7-9 MAC) collected a MAC series opening victory on the road at Miami (OH) on Saturday afternoon, 6-5. Buffalo has now won three of their last four MAC games as they improved to 7-9 in MAC play as they are looking to earn a spot in the MAC Tournament for the first time since 2014.

Dubin allowed just one unearned run while striking out a career-best nine batters in his team-leading fourth win of the season.

Senior designated hitter Vinny Mallaro finished the game with two RBI as he became the programs all-time leader in RBI with 139 career runs batted in for the blue and white.

The Buffalo pitching staff allowed just five hits while their offense was only able to produce three singles and a double in the losing effort.

Kwitzer went 2-for-4 with the game-winning RBI as the Bulls snapped Ball State’s nine-game winning streak.

Mallaro went 3-for-4 with two home runs, three runs and a program record nine RBI in the loss.

    TOLEDO, OH – The University at Buffalo baseball team (10-20, 3-4 MAC) saw their late rally come up just short on Friday afternoon in the opening game of a three-game series against MAC foe Toledo. The Bulls loaded the bases with one out in the ninth but were only able to score one run as they fell 4-3 to the Rockets.
