BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo football team will wrap up spring drills with its annual Blue & White Spring Scrimmage on Friday night at UB Stadium. Admission is free and the scrimmage is scheduled to start at 7 pm.
Like year's past under head coach Lance Leipold, Friday will be a situational scrimmage between the offense and defense. The Bulls will hold 11-on-11 scrimmage situations with the ball spotted in various down and distances and field positions.
It has been a productive spring for the Bulls as the team looks to build on their 6-6 record from a season ago. UB fans will get their first chance to see standout players like wide receiver Anthony Johnson, quarterback Tyree Jackson and linebacker Khalil Hodge.
Johnson was a first-team All-MAC selection after piling up 76 catches for 1,356 yards and 14 touchdowns in 2017. He ranked second in the nation in receiving yards last year, averaging 113 yards per game. His 14 touchdown receptions were a school record.
Jackson looks to build on his finish to the 2017 campaign. The junior signal-caller averaged 341 passing yards and threw nine touchdowns over the final four games of the season. Overall, he threw for 2,096 yards and 12 touchdowns on the year.
Hodge, a two-time All-MAC selection, led the MAC and ranked second in the nation with 154 tackles in 2017. Over the past two seasons, no other player in college football compiled more tackles than Hodge's 277.
Fans that can't make it out to UB Stadium on Friday night can tune in to 550 WGR where Ryan Gates will be broadcasting his show live from UB Stadium from 7:00 – 9:00 pm. Gates will be joined by the UB Football broadcasting crew as well as other guest surrounding UB Athletics.
