BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo men's basketball team placed three individuals on the preseason All-Big 4 team on Monday afternoon, which was announced at the First Niagara Center during the annual Big 4 Media Day Event. Senior Javon McCrea and junior Will Regan were both named to the first team, while senior guard Jarod Oldham was named to the second team.
McCrea is UB's all-time single-season leading scorer, coming off a junior campaign where he scored 611 points, all coming from inside the three-point arc. McCrea has continued to work on his game, which included a stop as a counselor at the prestigious adidas Nations Basketball Tournament this summer. The Newark, NY native is within striking distance of the all-time scoring record and most recently, McCrea was named to the Lou Henson Preseason All-American team, which is made up of the top Mid-Major players in the country.
Regan played his first season in a UB uniform last year. Regan saved his best game for one of UB's biggest, a second round victory in the MAC Tournament against Ball State. Regan poured in 36 points against the Cardinals, including five three-pointers. Regan averaged 11.1 points and 4.4 rebounds per game last season as a sophomore.
Oldham is back this season after missing the second half of last year due to injury. Oldham was on his way to having his best season of his career before being sidetracked by the injury. Oldham was averaging 10.1 points per game over the first 11 games, including a career-high 20 points against St. Bonaventure in the last game he would play all year.
The Bulls open the regular season on Friday, November 8 at Texas A&M, however, fans will get their first opportunity to see the Bulls in action this Saturday as they will hold an open practice at Alumni Arena at 11:30 am. The men's and women's program will also hold Bulls Madness on Friday, October 25 at 7:00 pm.
