BUFFALO, NY – Fresh off a dominating week at home, University at Buffalo senior guard CJ Massinburg has been named the MAC East Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday. This is the third time this season that Massinburg has been honored as the East Player of the Week.
Massinburg led the Bulls by averaging 20.5 points per game this past week as UB won a pair of games to increase their current winning streak to five game. In the process, Massinburg moved into third place on Buffalo's all-time scoring list in the win over Kent State as he now has 1,835 points in his career.
Massinburg began the week on Tuesday with 23 points in Buffalo's blowout win over Ohio. He added three rebounds and four assists in the victory. On Friday, Massinburg added 18 points in the victory over the Golden Flashes, while defensively he had a career high five steals. Overall, he shot 65.2% from the floor and 77.8% from the free throw line.
The Bulls also continued to move up in the national polls on Monday as UB jumped up four spots in the latest AP poll, checking in at #21, while they moved up one spot in the USA Today Coaches' Poll to #23.
Massinburg and the Bulls will close out a three-game home stand Tuesday night when UB welcomes Akron to Alumni Arena. Tip off is set for 7:00 pm.
