BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo senior forward Nick Perkins has been named the MAC East Player of the Week, the Mid-American Conference announced on Sunday afternoon. It is the third straight week that Buffalo has claimed player of the week honors.
Perkins was dominant in Buffalo's two games this past week as they closed out the regular season. UB won its ninth straight game as Perkins averaged 19.5 points and 7.0 rebounds in the two games. On Tuesday, Perkins had 17 points in Buffalo's road victory at Ohio where he added eight rebounds. Picking up his first start of the year on Senior Night Friday, Perkins had a game-high 22 points in a win over Bowling Green, adding six boards. Perkins, who went over 1,700 points for his career, is second on the Bulls in scoring and he leads UB in rebounding.
This is the third time this season that Perkins has earned MAC East Player of the Week honors and the eighth time overall that a UB player has won the award.
Perkins and the Bulls clinched their second straight MAC Regular Season title and the #1 seed in the upcoming MAC Tournament. The Bulls will play in the MAC Quarterfinals on Thursday at 12:00 pm against either Akron or Miami (OH).
