Ben Fredrickson Joins UB Men's Soccer Coaching Staff

BUFFALO, NY - As the start of the 2014 season comes ever closer, the UB men's soccer team rounded out the roster Friday with the addition of an assistant coach. Ben Fredrickson will become a member of head coach Stu Riddle's staff.

Fredrickson just finished his own college career, playing out west for powerhouse program Regis University for four seasons. With the Rangers, he helped reach the Elite 8 in the NCAA Division II tournament. That followed up a junior year where the team went undefeated in the regular season. Fredrickson played on numerous club teams in his native New Zealand, where he struck up an early relationship with Riddle.

"Ben has been a friend of mine for 10 years and I am delighted to have him join our staff," said Riddle of his fellow Kiwi. "He's a young enthusiastic coach not far removed from playing at the college level who will help the development of the players on and off the field."

The 2014 season begins with three home exhibitions starting Aug.17 against Gannon. The regular season schedule starts with matches at San Diego and San Diego State on Aug. 29 and 31, respectively. The team's home opener will be Sept. 5 against Bryant.
