ATHENS, OH – The University at Buffalo softball team (15-29, 6-14 MAC) was blanked in a pair of games on Saturday afternoon at MAC-leading Ohio. The Bulls were defeated 17-0 in the opening game of the afternoon before falling 8-0 in the second game as both games went five innings.
The Bobcats were able to take control of the first game of the doubleheader in the bottom of the first inning as they scored nine runs and forced a pitching change for the Bulls.
After a scoreless second inning by the Bulls, the Bobcats added two runs in the bottom of the second inning and two more in the third to take the 13-0 lead.
Ohio added four more runs in the bottom of fourth inning to take the dominant 17-0 lead and ended the game after five innings.
Danielle Lallos was the lone Buffalo player to record a hit in the game as she notched a single in the second inning.
The Bobcats responded with a run in the bottom of the first inning and then made the score 5-0 in the bottom of the third after connecting on five hits in the inning.
Ohio scored a run in the fourth inning and finished the game off in the bottom of the fifth inning and they scored two runs to end the game after five innings with the 8-0 win.
Martinez was the lone UB player to record a hit in the loss as she went 2-for-2.
Buffalo will conclude their regular season at home next weekend as they welcome the Miami (OH) RedHawks to Nan Harvey Field. The Bulls and RedHawks will begin their three-game series on Friday at 3:00 pm in Buffalo.
