MIAMI, FL – The University at Buffalo softball team fell at Florida International, 8-3 on Wednesday.
After the Panthers took an early 1-0 lead in the first, the Bulls got on the board in the fourth as Anna Aguon led off with a double to right center and Jenelle Martinez brought her home with an RBI single to right to tie the game 1-1.
Buffalo would add another run in the fifth on a solo blast from Hannah Bardeen to take a 2-1 lead. But the Panthers responded in a big way, scoring seven runs on seven hits to take an 8-2 lead. UB would score one more run on an RBI single from Aguon in the top of the seventh but the Rally fell short as FIU held on to secure the victory.
Buffalo returns home to host Northern Illinois in the home opener on Friday, March 22, at 3 pm.
