Bulls Travel to Bowling Green for Weekend Series with Falcons

BUFFALO, NY – After defeating Akron 6-5 on walkoff homerun on Wednesday, the University at Buffalo softball team travels to Bowling Green for a weekend MAC series against the Falcons.

Game one is set for 3pm on Friday, April 12, and will be followed by a doubleheader on Saturday, beginning at 1 pm.

The Bulls picked up their first conference series win of the season and tied a UB single-game record with four home runs in the win over the Zips. Jenelle Martinez finished the game 2-for-4 at the plate with two home runs, four RBI and two runs scored, while Anna Aguon finished 3-for-4 with two runs scored and Olivia Kincanon went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.

Aguon continues to lead Buffalo at the plate as she has improved her average to .418 on the season to go along with four home runs, 11 doubles, a triple, 14 RBI and 19 runs scored while slugging .673. Martinez also continues to impress as she is batting .310 while recording five doubles, three home runs, 17 RBI and 15 runs scored. In the circle, UB is led by senior Ally Power who has an overall record of 3-12 to go along with a 6.06 ERA and has recorded 54 strikeouts in 107.0 innings of work. Lace Smith has a 4-10 overall record with a 7.57 ERA and 18 strikeouts in 79.2 innings pitched.

Bowling Green enters the weekend with a 15-21 overall record and a 3-8 MAC mark after dropping a midweek contest at Miami (OH) on Tuesday. The Falcons are led offensively by Madi McCoy who is batting .386 with seven home runs, two doubles, 23 RBI and 14 runs scored while slugging .714. Mikki Sorgi is batting .340 with three home runs, eight doubles, 21 RBI and 17 runs scored, while Kendyl Wheeler is batting a team-best .429 with six hits and three RBI in 14 at bats. In the circle, the Falcons are led by Meredith Miller who has recorded a 10-11 record to go along with a 3.13 ERA as she has struck out 123 batters across 125.1 innings of work.

After the weekend series, UB will travel across town for a midweek doubleheader at Canisius on Tuesday, April 16, starting at 3 pm.
