BUFFALO, NY – After dropping its midweek doubleheader at Canisius on Wednesday, the University at Buffalo softball team travels to MAC-leading Miami (OH) for a weekend series against the RedHawks.
Due to anticipated inclement weather, there will be a doubleheader on Friday with game one beginning at 2 pm and game two to follow at approximately 4 pm. The final game of the series is scheduled for Saturday at 1 pm.
The Bulls dropped a close contest 2-0 in game one at Canisius before falling to the Griffs 8-1 in game two. Gabby Keller led the Bulls at the plate as she went 4-for-6 at the plate on the day with a double and a run scored.
Aguon continues to lead Buffalo at the plate as she maintains a .400 average on the season to go along with five home runs, 13 doubles, a triple, 17 RBI and 23 runs scored while slugging .661. Jenelle Martinez also continues to impress as she is batting .305 while recording five doubles, three home runs, 18 RBI and 18 runs scored while Keller has improved her average to .338 to go with five doubles, seven RBI and 11 runs scored in 77 at bats. In the circle, UB is led by senior Ally Power who has an overall record of 4-14 to go along with a 5.67 ERA and has recorded 70 strikeouts in 119.0 innings of work. Lace Smith has a 5-11 overall record with a 7.80 ERA and 20 strikeouts in 90.0 innings pitched.
Miami (OH) enters the weekend with a 23-14 overall record and an 8-4 MAC mark after winning their series at Kent State last weekend. The RedHawks are led offensively by Ashton Slone who is batting .381 with five home runs, 12 doubles, 28 RBI and 17 runs scored while slugging .638. Morgan Lott is batting .312 with three home runs, six doubles, five triples, 11 RBI and 22 runs scored, while Haeley Tran is batting .310 with six doubles, four RBI and 23 runs scored. In the circle, the Falcons are led by Courtney Vierstra who has recorded a 9-7 record to go along with a 2.47 ERA as she has struck out a team-best 164 batters across 110.1 innings of work.
After the weekend series, UB will travel to St. Bonaventure for a single game on Wednesday, April, 24, at 3 pm.
