In recognition of a leadership gift made by the Murchie family to the recently announced fieldhouse, the UB Council endorsed a resolution, on Monday, to name the new fieldhouse at the University at Buffalo, the Murchie Family Fieldhouse in honor of former UB hockey player Tunney Murchie and his family. The naming is subject to the approval of the SUNY Chancellor and the SUNY Board of Trustees.
The longtime dream of an on-campus fieldhouse at the University at Buffalo will soon be a reality. University at Buffalo Director of Athletics Allen Greene announced on Friday that the university has secured the services of Rochester-based LeChase Construction as the general contractor and New York-based architecture firm CHA for the project.

Roberts becomes just the fourth head coach of the softball program in the Bulls division I history. Sophomore Ally Power hit a bloop single with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning, sending the Bulls to a 4-3 comeback victory in extra innings over Western Michigan. Sophomore Catrell Robertson had a pair of huge hits, leading the Bulls to the comeback in their home opener at Nan Harvey Field.
The University at Buffalo softball team wasted a pair of masterful pitching performances on Saturday as the Bulls were swept in a doubleheader by Western Michigan. The Broncos won the first game 2-0 and then took the second contest 2-1 in 11 innings. Both games were played at Dobson Field at D’Youville College.
Due to snow and unplayable field conditions, Friday's series opener between the University at Buffalo softball team and Western Michigan has been postponed. The series will now begin on Saturday afternoon with a doubleheader beginning at 1pm at Dobson Field at D'Youville.
The University at Buffalo softball team split a Mid-American Conference doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon at Akron as the Bulls shut the Zips out in the first game 3-0 before falling in the second contest, 4-1.
