BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo women's swimmer Brittney Kuras was named the Mid-American Conference Swimmer of the Week on Monday the conference announced. It is the third time this season the senior swimmer has won the award.
Kuras won five individual events and was part of two relay victories against St. Bonaventure and Miami (OH) last week.
On Wednesday, in a 164-114 win at St. Bonaventure, Kuras won the 50 freestyle with a time of 23.52 and the 100 freestyle with a time of 51.88. Both wins were two seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. She also anchored the winning 200 freestyle relay team along with teammates Jessica Powers, Marissa Murphy and Rachael Ragen.
Against Miami (OH) on Saturday she won the 100 freestyle with a time of 51.41. She won the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:50.63 - nearly five seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. She won the 200 individual medley, by three seconds, with a time of 2:05.45. She was also a part of the winning 200 medley relay team along with Melissa Trail, Alexis Valedon and Taylor Steffl.
Kuras was also named the MAC Swimmer of the Week on Oct. 14 and Oct. 28.
The Bulls will conclude MAC competition at Ball State on Saturday.
