Bulls Sit in Second Place After One Day Of Competition

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo Swimming & Diving team sit in second place after one day of competition in the 2019 MAC swimming & Diving Championships. The Bulls placed third in both of the first evening of competitions events, the 200-yard medley and 800-yard freestyle relays, earning 64 points. Akron currently leads the field of teams with 80 points.

In the first of two events today, the 200-yard medley, the Bulls' relay team of Nicole Roitenberg, Anna Vitolins, Andrea Ernst and Jillian Lawton swam to a third place finish with a time of 1:39.65. The time is the second fastest in program history and a season-best time for the relay squad.

In the final event, the relay team of Brittney Beetcher, Katelyn Burns, Catherine Schultheis and Olivia Sapio claimed a podium finish as they swam to a third place finish in the 800-yard freestyle relay clocking in a finishing time of 7:13.94. The time ranks as the second-best time in team history, and is also the Bulls fastest time this season.

The Bulls will return to the Okasek Natatorium on Thursday for the second day of the Championships. The events will begin with the 500 freestyle on Thursday morning.
