ROCHESTER, NY – The University at Buffalo, State University of New York men's and women's outdoor track & field teams competed Thursday at the Rochester Alumni Invitational at Fauver Stadium. The women placed first out of 12 teams with 128 points scored, while the men finished second out of 12 teams with 121 points.
The Bulls combined to win 12 events, rewriting facility records in the women's 400-meter hurdles and discus throw. Miranda Daucher won the discus with a toss of 53.72 meters. Regine Lazard won the hurdles with a time of 1:01.77. Both Daucher and Lazard met the Mid-American Conference automatic qualifiers for their events. The Bulls also scored three others in the hurdles. Kyla Kenyon was the runner-up in 1:02.99. Brianna Colello finished third in 1:03.86 and Asher Beasely fifth in 1:04.80.
Both UB teams won their respective 4x400 relays. The women did so in 4:00.72, while the men won in 3:26.81. The men also placed third in the 4x100 in 42.91 and the women ran sixth in the event in 50.72.
On the women's side, McKenzie Kuehlewind won the shot and Joanna Hallisy was the runner-up with throws of 13.17 and 13.10 meters, respectively. Kuehlewind also finished seventh in the hammer, while Daucher placed eighth with marks of 39.49 and 39.35 meters, respectively.
Three placed in the 100 hurdles. Emma Siuciak won the race in 14.69. Sabrina Bush followed in second place with a time of 14.74 and Jennetta Siracuse ran eighth in 17.06. Siuciak also finished third in the long jump with a leap of 5.32 meters and fourth in the javelin with a 30.40-meter heave. Isabella Borini placed third in the javelin with a mark of 32.86 meters.
Named MAC Female Scholar Athlete of the Week on Wednesday, Christine Lyttle placed second in the 100 dash in 12.81. Fabiola Oubida placed third in the 800 and Natalie Muller fourth with times of 2:19.70 and 2:20.45, respectively. Sydney Bova clocked a 4:51.97 finish in the 1,500 to place eighth.
The men's team gathered an additional six gold-medal performances. Ryan Cribbin won a pair of events in the shot put and discus throw. He threw the shot 15.77 meters and the discus 48.11 meters. Sean Harvey finished fourth in the shot put with a heave of 14.09 meters.
Kaishaun Cathey won the triple jump with a mark of 13.97 meters.
UB took one-two in the 400 and two-three in the 110 hurdles. Mitchell Moore was victorious in the 400 in 49.19 and Treyvon Mask finished second in 49.70. Jake Wray ran second in the hurdles in 15.21 and Christian Doherty was third in 15.50.
The Bulls return to action Friday and Saturday competing at the Florida Relays and the Princeton Sam Howell Invitational.
