MUNCIE, IN – The University at Buffalo, State University of New York men's and women's track & field team competed in five events Thursday on day one of the 2015 Mid-American Conference Championships at Ball State.
Kelly Truppo tied for third place in the pole vault with a 3.86-meter clear. She earned 5.50 points for the women.
Arnis Mehmetaj placed fifth in the javelin with a toss of 60.17 meters, bettering his personal best by over four meters, to tally four points for the men.
Emma Siuciak sits nine points shy of third place in the heptathlon with 3,294 points through four events. She opened the day with a 14.31 finish in the 100-meter hurdles, good for 935 points. She added 916 with the top high jump performance, clearing 1.75 meters. Siuciak had the third-best throw in the shot with a mark of 11.55 meters and closed out day one with a 25.83 finish in the 200.
The Bulls return to competition Friday. Field events will begin at 10 am with the men's hammer. The heptathlon will resume at 11:30 am with the long jump, and the first track event, the 1,500 trials, will fire at 1 pm.
