Track & Field Set to Begin 2017 Season

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo track & field team are ready to start their 2017 season. The first meet is scheduled to begin Saturday, January 14th in Staten Island at the Great Dane Invitational. The Bulls were predicted to finish fifth (men) and seventh (women) in the preseason polls.

The Bulls are returning key athletes to the roster this year. Ryan Cribbin is returning for his final season after having an astounding junior campaign. The Irondequoit, NY native was the MAC Conference Champion in both the indoor and the outdoor shot put. The Bulls are also returning seniors Tyra Forbes and Barrett Kemp. The two are hungry for the gold this year, after taking home the silver at the MAC Championships in the 4X100 Relay and 1500m, respectively. Forbes also holds the school record in the 4X200 Relay. Sophomore Mikayla Pearce is also returning to the roster. Pearce won the bronze at the MAC Championship in the long jump.

The Bulls brought home two more silver medals at the MAC Championships: Brian Crimmins in the 1-mile run and the distance medley team of Craig Kaiser, Tyler Scheving, Treyvon Mask, and Crimmins. They also took away an additional two bronze medals and four fourth place finishes. Amy Shaw and Scheving earned a bronze medal each in the 5000M and 800M run, respectively. Shaw also took fourth in the 3000M. The 4X400 meter relay team of Joshua Gali, Mask, Scheving and Mitchell Moore took fourth along with Laurent Dure (high jump) and Daniel Normoyle (pole vault).

The first meet of the season is set to begin at 10:00 am.
