2015-2016: Indoor Track & Field Academic All-MAC… 1st in steeplechase at Lou Onesty Invitational with a time of 9:20.92… Placed 5th at Northeast Challenge in 5000m with a time of 15:16.67… Took 1st in steeplechase at UB Invitational, clocking in at 9:12.37… Placed 8th at Outdoor MAC Championships in 3000m steeplechase… Outdoor Track & Field Academic All-MAC.

2014-15: Ran season-best times of 1:58.42 in the indoor 800-meter run, 4:13.23 in the mile run, 4:00.38 in the 1,500-meter run, and 9:21.26 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

High School: Attended Corning-Painted Post West High School...ran for coaches Andrew Cartwright and Ray Lawson...two-year captain for the Hawks...set cross country school records in the 4,000- and 5,000-meter runs and track & field records in the 1,600, mile run, 2,000 steeplechase and the 3,000 steeplechase...a two-time New Balance Outdoor All-American in the 2,000 steeple...STAC champion in the 1,600 in 2013...STAT champion in the 3,000 steeple in 2014...indoor and outdoor sectional champion in the 1,600 run as a senior for the Hawks.

Personal: Born Oct. 23, 1995, son of James and Christie, and has one brother, Brendan. He is majoring in biology and hopes to become a doctor of internal medicine. In his free time McCarthy enjoys books and movies and watching hockey, baseball and football and his favorite foods include steak and pasta. If he could meet one person from history, he'd like to meet Jackie Robinson. The Galapagos Islands are the one place he'd like to visit most. Also competes on the UB cross country team.
