BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo is set to host the third annual Garnham Throws challenge on Sunday, September 30, at the University at Buffalo Throws Facility behind UB Stadium.
The event, which gives recognition to UB throw coach Jim Garnham, one of the most decorated throwing coaches in the NCAA, is a USATF Sanctioned Event and features all four throwing events. It gives throwers the unique opportunity to compete in the fall season for what traditionally is a spring sport. It included shot put, discus, hammer and javelin. The age groups ranged from 19 & under, 20-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, and 80+.
Things get underway at 9:30am starting with weigh-ins, followed by the shot put and javelin throw events at 11:00am, the hammer throw at 1:00pm and concludes with the discus throw at 3:00pm.
Pre-registration is $25 per athlete and is available online here until Friday, September 28, 2018 by 11:59pm. You may register in person at the event for $30 per athlete. Registration opens at 9:00am and goes until 11:00am. The event is open to all youth, college, post-collegiate, and masters athletes.
