BUFFALO, NY – Former University at Buffalo Track & Field athlete Asher Beasley is set to appear in a documentary at the 2018 Buffalo International Film Festival Shorts on October 7th and 8th at the Hallwalls Contemporary Art Center on 341 Delaware Avenue in Buffalo, NY.
The short film, titled 'Asher', is a 45 minute feature highlighting Beasley's time as a student athlete at UB and is an intimate portrait about the struggles of battling depression and the challenges of motherhood. The film is directed by Mani Mehravrz.
Beasley attended UB from 2012-15, competing in the 60HH, 100HH, and 400IH, along with excelling in the middle distances 400m – 800m. She competed in 5 Mid-American Conference Championships, and scored in both the 4 x 100m and 4 x 400m relays.
The short films festival, put on by the Buffalo International Film Festival (BIFF) is highlighted by a collection of 10 short stories and documentaries. BIFF champions local, national and international films that test the limits of independent cinema, and now entering their 11th year, presents residents from around the Western New York area with juried films of diverse perspectives from around the world.
