BUFFALO, NY – Former University at Buffalo Track & Field athlete Asher Beasley is set to appear in a documentary at the 2018 Buffalo International Film Festival on October 7th and 8th at the Hallwalls Contemporary Art Center on 341 Delaware Avenue in Buffalo, NY.
BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo hosted the third annual Garnham Throws Challenge on Sunday afternoon. The event gives recognition to UB throw coach Jim Garnham, who is one of the most decorated throwing coaches in the NCAA.
The University at Buffalo men's and women's track and field teams have both been honored as All-Academic Teams by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). The men's team posted a team grade point average of 3.03, while the women's team posted a 3.22.
The Mid-American Conference announced today the Distinguished Scholar Athletes from the eight spring sports during this 2017-18 academic season as 138 students were voted by faculty athletic representatives at MAC institutions representing the ‘best of the best’ from each sports Academic All-MAC Teams. Buffalo, which sponsors teams in five of the right sports, had seven individuals named Distinguished Scholar Athletes.
University at Buffalo Cross Country and Track and Field Director and Head Coach Vicki Mitchell a former standout at Amherst High School was inducted into the school’s athletic hall of fame on Thursday evening.
University at Buffalo distance runner Oscar Vazquez finished fifth in the men’s 10,000m at the USATF Junior Nationals at Indiana University over the weekend. His time of 33:22.76 was just six seconds shy of qualifying for the 2018 IAAF World U20 Championships.
The University at Buffalo track and field team will have three athletes competing at the USATF Junior Championships beginning on Friday at the University of Indiana. Christopher Nowak, Thomas Flannery and Oscar Vazquez will all be competing in hopes of being selected for the 2018 IAAF World U20 Championships.
The University at Buffalo placed 17 outdoor track and field student-athletes on the Academic All-Mid-American Conference Team, the league announced on Wednesday. The women’s team had 11 selections, while the men had six named to the team.
The NCAA East Preliminaries concluded on Saturday with Devon Patterson competing in the men’s shot put. Patterson closed out his season placing 16th of the 48 competitors, narrowly missing out on punching his ticket to Eugene in the top-12.
Action continued on Friday at the NCAA East Preliminaries in Tampa, FL and the University at Buffalo had three student-athletes competing. Sam Wray, Selina Von Jackowski and Miranda Daucher were all in action.
Mitchell Moore posted his second best ever time in the 400m hurdles on Thursday, the first day of the NCAA Track and Field East Preliminaries hosted by University of South Florida. Moore finished the race with a time of 52.14 to finish 29th. He was ranked 37th going into the race. He finished a mere inches from advancing to the quarterfinals.
Five members of the University at Buffalo track and field team will compete at the NCAA East Preliminaries beginning on Thursday at the University of South Florida. Miranda Daucher, Selina Von Jackowski, Mitchell Moore, Devon Patterson and Sam Wray will compete looking to advance to the NCAA Championships hosted by the University of Oregon.
The University at Buffalo men’s and women’s track and field teams collected four medals on the final day of competition at the Mid-American Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships at UB Stadium on Saturday. One of the highlights of the day was the men’s 400m hurdles where the Bulls took both the gold and the bronze.
University at Buffalo throwers Ryan Cribbin took gold and Devon Patterson took silver in the men’s shot put on Friday at the Mid-American Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships at UB Stadium. It marked the ninth straight year the Bulls won gold in the men’s shot put at the MAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

The University at Buffalo track & field team closed the regular season at the Jim Thorpe Open hosted by Penn State on Friday. The meet served as a tune-up for next week’s Mid-American Conference Championships which UB will host.
Despite rain, wind and cool temperatures, the University at Buffalo track and field was still able to post solid results at the UB Invite held at UB Stadium on Saturday. The Bulls faced some of the best local competition in Canisius, Niagara, St. Bonaventure and Daemen as well as a number of track clubs.
A number of personal bests were set by University at Buffalo track and field student-athletes on the final day of the Larry Ellis Invitational hosted by Princeton University on Saturday. The Bulls faced off against very strong competition and it was a good preview of the East Regional Competition that UB will see at the end of May at NCAA East Prelims at UCF.
The University at Buffalo track and field team posted four wins on Sunday on the final day of the Bucknell Bison Classic. Selina Von Jackowski was a double winner in the women’s 200m and 100m high hurdles and Devon Patterson was victorious in the shot put.
