The University at Buffalo track and field team posted four wins on Sunday on the final day of the Bucknell Bison Classic. Selina Von Jackowski was a double winner in the women’s 200m and 100m high hurdles and Devon Patterson was victorious in the shot put.
The University at Buffalo track and field team traveled to central Pennsylvania to compete at the Bucknell Bison Classic and posted solid results on the first day of action on Saturday. With temperatures in the mid 80s in the afternoon, the conditions were excellent for the throwers. By the evening for the invitational 1500m, 5000m and 10,000m, the sun set, and the temps cooled down to under 70 – also great conditions.
University at Buffalo track and field head coach Vicki Mitchell has announced the addition of nine student-athletes for the upcoming 2018-2019 track and field season. Antoinette Butts-Miller, Riley Jones, Kelsey Shapiro, Travasia Singletary, Christina Wende, Ryan Buzby, Joe Williams, Mark Przybocki and Anthony Ray, Jr. will be joining the Bulls in the fall of 2018.
The University at Buffalo outdoor track and field team had a good opener at the William & Mary Quad on Saturday in Williamsburg, VA. The meet was highlighted by Caleb Covell breaking the school record in the men’s 3,000m with a time of 8:21.35 to place second.
The University at Buffalo Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field teams placed 20 student-athletes on the Academic All-Mid-American Conference Team, the league announced on Friday. The men had eight student-athletes recognized, while the women had 12 student-athletes receive the honor.
Selina Von Jackowski’s smashing the school record in the 60m high hurdles highlighted Saturday action at the Mid-American Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships at hosted by Bowling Green. Von Jackowski took the silver medal in the 60m high hurdles with a time of 8.40 – breaking the previous record of 8.44 set by Brooklyn Ventura in 2013.
The University at Buffalo track and field team completed the first day of action at the Mid-American Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Bowling Green on Friday. After day one, the men’s team sits in fifth place and the women’s team is in sixth place.

Amy Villarini, Mitchell Moore and Christopher Nowak all posted wins at the Akron Zips Invitational on Friday night. Villarini won the women’s 400m with a time of 56.65. Moore won the men’s 400m with a time of 48.02. Finally, Chris Nowak won the men’s 800m with a season-best time of 1:53.24.
BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo men’s and women’s cross country teams have been honored by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for their academic success this past season. As announced on Monday, both teams earned All-Academic honors as the women’s team posted a team grade point average of 3.41 while the men’s squad had a team grade point average of 3.27.
The University at Buffalo track and field team competed at the Kent State National Qualifier on Saturday and posted a number of impressive numbers. Between the men and women, the Bulls posted 21 top-five finishes.
The University at Buffalo indoor track and field team competed at the Akron Invite over the weekend. Jess Dhalilwall continued her strong indoor season by winning the weight throw with a toss of 63-06.75. Sam Wray won the men’s weight throw with a toss of 58-02.00.
Selina Von Jackowski tied a personal best jump of 19'11'' to win the long jump by a mere centimeter at the Penn State National Invitational that concluded on Saturday. Von Jackowksi also took home a fifth place finish in the 60m hurdles (8.55).
The University at Buffalo men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams competed at the Upstate Challenge hosted by Cornell University over the weekend. The women finished in second place and the men took third.
Ray Anikwue and Stephanie Ward both won events as the University at Buffalo indoor track and field team opened the season at the Great Dane Classic in Staten Island, NY on Saturday. Anikwue won the men’s 60m dash with a time of 7:05 and Ward won the women’s 3,000m with a time of 9:50.66.
University at Buffalo Track and Field director and head coach Vicki Mitchell has announced that Lily Meek has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend UB and compete for the Bulls beginning in the fall of 2018.
In recognition of a leadership gift made by the Murchie family to the recently announced fieldhouse, the UB Council endorsed a resolution, on Monday, to name the new fieldhouse at the University at Buffalo, the Murchie Family Fieldhouse in honor of former UB hockey player Tunney Murchie and his family. The naming is subject to the approval of the SUNY Chancellor and the SUNY Board of Trustees.
University at Buffalo track and field athlete Devon Patterson has been selected by the Mid-American Conference to represent the league at the annual NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Forum, which will take place from November 16-19 in Washington D.C.
The University at Buffalo hosted the second annual Garnham Throws Challenge on Sunday afternoon. The event gives recognition to UB throw coach Jim Garnham, who is one of the most decorated throwing coaches in the NCAA.
The longtime dream of an on-campus fieldhouse at the University at Buffalo will soon be a reality. University at Buffalo Director of Athletics Allen Greene announced on Friday that the university has secured the services of Rochester-based LeChase Construction as the general contractor and New York-based architecture firm CHA for the project.
University at Buffalo track and field head coach Vicki Mitchell has announced the hiring of Kelly Truppo as a part-time assistant coach. A 2015 University at Buffalo graduate and stand-out pole vaulter, Truppo will serve as assistant coach for pole vault.
