Cassie Oursler Earns MAC East Player Of The Week For Second Straight Week

BUFFALO, NY – Senior center Cassie Oursler was named Mid-American Conference east division Player of the Week for the second straight week on Tuesday, as announced by the conference office. Oursler joins Cierra Dillard as the lone UB players to earn the weekly recognition at least two times as Dillard has earned it three times this season.

Oursler has turned into a dominant presence for the Bulls down low over the past couple weeks as she helped UB finish off a perfect 2-0 week last week by averaging 16.0 points, 10.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks. The senior has now earned Player of the Week recognition for the second straight week for the first time in her career.

On Wednesday night, Oursler had a monster game for the Bulls as they were able to clinch the MAC East division regular season championship for the first time in program history. The Grand Island, NY native finished off her eighth double-double of the season with 20 points, 12 rebounds and two blocks in just 24 minutes while going 8-for-11 from the floor. The double-double was her fourth in her last five games.

The senior got into some foul trouble on Saturday afternoon but she was still able to finish off the Bulls come-from-behind victory over Ohio with 12 points and nine rebounds. Oursler only played 20 minutes before fouling out but was very efficient for UB as she went 4-for-7 from the floor and 4-for-4 from the free throw line.

Over the Bulls current seven game winning streak, Oursler is leading UB as she is averaging 16.3 points, 11.1 rebounds and 2.3 blocks while shooting 59.5% from the floor and a perfect 14-for-14 from the charity stripe.

On the year, the senior is averaging a career-best 13.9 points, 7.3 rebounds and 2.0 blocks while shooting 49.7% from the floor and 82.1% from the free throw line. Oursler had notched a team-best eight double-doubles to go along with a team-high 22 double digit point efforts and four 20+ point games.

Buffalo will return to the court on Wednesday night for their final regular season road game as they head to Kent State for a MAC east clash with the Flashes at 7:00 pm.
