BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's basketball team will host eighth-ranked Stanford on Friday afternoon at Alumni Arena. The Bulls are back home for their first game since beating Niagara on November 14.
Winners of five of their last six, the Bulls are 7-2 on the season and are coming off a 75-69 win at Dartmouth on Tuesday night. Buffalo will put its 14-game home winning streak on the line when the Cardinal comes to town.
The Bulls are led by Cierra Dillard who is averaging 25.8 points per game. The senior guard continues to lead the nation in scoring. The Bulls have gotten a boost from Summer Hemphill who returned to the lineup against Dartmouth. The sophomore forward had 24 points and 14 rebounds against the Big Green.
Stanford is 8-1 on the season, with its lone loss coming against 21st-ranked Gonzaga. The Cardinal is led by Alanna Smith who is averaging 18.2 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. Stanford's Hall-of-Fame coach Tara VanDerveer grew up in Niagara Falls and is a graduate of Buffalo Seminary.
This will be the first meeting between the schools. Currently 0-3, the Bulls are in search of their first win over a school from the PAC 12 Conference.
