CLEVELAND, OH - After leading the team with terrific junior seasons, Kevin Smith and John-Martin Cannon were named to the 10-player Academic All-MAC team. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport.

He led the team with 34 wins this season, helping him receive an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament, his second straight appearance. This is the third straight year he has earned his place on the Academic All-MAC team. Smith is on the verge of becoming the seventh member of the 100-win club, with a career record of 92-34. Also, Smith became the tenth wrestler to record 100 career takedowns after taking his opponent down 29 times in duals this season.
Cannon (Brockport, NY) continues to get better and better as his career progresses with the team. After winning 22 matches in his first two years, the true junior won a career-best 27 matches this season en route to his second straight appearance in the NCAA tournament. He finished second on the team with 38 takedowns and is now in the program's career top five in that category, with 116 total.
