Bulls Open Season Against CSU Bakersfield on Thursday

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo wrestling team will open the 2017-18 campaign on Thursday night when the Bulls host CSU Bakersfield at Alumni Arena. The Bulls are in search of their third straight double-digit-dual-win season after winning 10 duals in 2016 and 11 duals in 2017.

Buffalo went 11-6 overall in duals and went 4-4 in MAC duals last season. The four MAC dual wins were their most since joining the conference in 1998. UB returns three wrestlers that qualified for the NCAAs last season, including 2017 MAC Champion Jake Gunning (285). Kyle Akins (125) and Bryan Lantry (133) also went to the NCAAs last year.

CSU Bakersfield went 5-7 in dual meets last season. The Roadrunners return five wrestlers who qualified for the NCAAs, including reigning Pac-12 125-pound champion Sean Nickell.

This is just the second meeting between the schools. Buffalo won the only other meeting, 33-9, in 2004.

Thursday's dual starts at 7 pm and will air on ESPN3. Click here to watch the dual.
