BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo wrestling team lost to Binghamton, 22-14, in the final home dual of the season at Alumni Arena on Thursday night. The Bulls will close out the regular season at top-ranked Penn State on Sunday.
The Bulls won decisions at 133 and 141 lbs. to take a 6-3 lead in the dual. Bryan Lantry used a third-period reversal to earn a 4-3 decision over Jacob Nicholson at 133 lbs. It was Lantry's 10th dual win of the season.
Jason Estevez followed with a 9-3 decision over Joe Russ at 141 to give the Bulls the 6-3 lead. It was Estevez's second straight decision by six or more points.
However, the Bearcats rattled off five straight wins, including a pair of technical falls to take a commanding 22-6 lead in the dual.
Joe Ariola won a dominant 16-5 major decision over Alex Melikian at 197. It was Ariola's third straight dual win by major decision.
Jake Gunning closed things out by winning his 10th straight dual. The redshirt-junior earned a 17-7 major decision over Sean Dee.
