EVANSTON, IL – The brackets have been released for the 2018 Ken Kraft Midlands Championships which begins on Saturday at Northwestern University. Eight members of the University at Buffalo wrestling team will compete in the prestigious event.
Derek Spann is the Bulls' highest ranked wrestler at the tournament, seeded eighth at 133 lbs. The redshirt-sophomore will face Iowa's Paul Glynn in his opening bout.
Marcus Robinson and Kyle Todrank will both compete in the 141-lb. bracket. Robinson will face Northern Illinois' Anthony Cheloni in his first match, while Todrank will face Princeton's Marshall Keller the first time he takes the mat.
The Bulls will also have two wrestlers competing at 165 lbs. Troy Keller will take on Anthony Valencia, the fifth seed from Arizona State. Noah Grover will face the winner of the Shane Jones (Old Dominion) and Kenny Moore (Northern Illinois) match.
At 197, Brett Perry is the 12th seed and will go up against the winner of the Zachary Chankonis (Northwestern) and Philip Robilotto (Franklin & Marshall) match. Sam Schuyler will also compete at 197 lbs. and will face two-seed Jacob Warner of Iowa in his first match.
Finally, Nolan Terrance will face the winner of the Robert Heald (Army)/Andrew Gunning (North Carolina) match in his first bout in the 285-lb. bracket.
Action starts at 10:30 am (EST) on Saturday morning.
