BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo, The State University of New York women's rowing team hosting the Harvey Cup on Tonawanda Creek on Saturday. Along with Eastern Michigan, the Bulls also hosted Duquesne and Mercyhurst this year.
In the race for the Harvey Cup, the Bulls were barely edged out by EMU in the Varsity 8 race and the Eagles took home the trophy. Eastern Michigan finished with a time 6:52.53, less than a second ahead of the Bulls that finished with a time of 6:53.13.
UB did win the other two races against EMU. The Varsity 4 boat won with a time of 8:16.89, nearly four seconds ahead of the Eagles. UB's Second Varsity 8 boat was dominant, winning its race with a time of 7:08.51. EMU posted a time of 7:45.83.
In the morning session, the Bulls faced off against Duquesne. The Dukes (7:14.93) defeated the Bulls (7:17.32) in the Varsity 8 race. Once again, UB's Second Varsity 8 rowed a strong race, finishing with a time of 8:34.55, nearly 10 seconds ahead of Duquesne.
UB's Varsity 4 boat won its race with a time of 8:06.46 – four seconds ahead of Duquesne. The Dukes won the Second Varsity 4, Novice 4 and Novice 8 races.
The Bulls will next compete at the Eastern Sprints in Camden, NJ on May 3.
