BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's soccer team (0-1-0, 0-0-0 MAC) will hit the road for their second of three straight road matches to open the 2017 season on Saturday night as they travel to Columbus, OH to take on Ohio State. The Bulls and Buckeyes will kick off at 7:00 pm inside Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
Buffalo opened up their 2017 campaign on the road last weekend and put up a strong effort against a very talented Cincinnati squad. Despite falling 1-0 to the Bearcats on a second half goal, the UB defense had a strong showing and their attacking group had multiple dangerous opportunities.
Senior goalkeeper Laura Dougall had a strong effort between the pipes for the Bulls in the 1-0 loss as she managed 10 saves including a diving save to her right on a breakaway opportunity by the Bearcats leading scorer. Offensively the Bulls generated a couple good scoring chances as Julia Benati, Gianna Yurchak, Kara Daly and Marcy Barberic each recorded a shot in the loss.
The Ohio State University comes into Saturday's match with a 1-0-1 record after opening their season with a 2-1 overtime victory over Arizona State and battling No. 8 BYU to a scoreless, 0-0, draw on Monday night. Sophomore Meghan Kammerdeiner netted the game-winning goal against Arizona State as she also notched an assist in the victory. Senior Sammy Edwards is tied with Kammerdeiner for the team lead with three points as she netted a goal and assist against the Sun Devils as well. Between the pipes, Devon Kerr has been solid as she has notched six saves and one cleansheet across 207:27 minutes of work.
Buffalo will return to Western New York on Tuesday night as they head to Buffalo to take on crosstown rival Canisius at 7:00 pm at the Demske Sports Complex.
