BUFFALO, NY - Senior Megan Burns of the University at Buffalo women's swimming & diving team was named Mid-American Conference Co-Swimmer/Diver of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Thursday. This marks the first time Burns has earned the weekly recognition this season.
Burns carried over her domination in the water from a season ago into the first competition of the 2017-18 campaign as the senior was able to collect four first-place finishes at the FIU Fall Classic. Burns shined to open the season as she was able to earn victories in the 50 free, 100 free, 200 free and 400 free relay. The senior collected the win in the 50 free with a time of 23.42, the 100 free in 51.20, the 200 free in 1:50.33 while anchoring the 400 free relay team that earned the win in 3:28.11. Burns' efforts helped guide the Bulls to a second place team finish, just behind the host FIU Golden Panthers, in the eight team field.
Burns and the Bulls will return to the water on Saturday, October 21 as they head to Cornell to take on the Big Red.
