Women’s Swimming Claims Decisive 203-97 Victory Over St. Bonaventure


OLEAN, NY – The University at Buffalo women's swimming & Diving team (4-0, 2-0 MAC) was able to stay unbeaten on Friday afternoon as they claimed the decisive 203-97 victory on the road against Big 4 foe St. Bonaventure. The Bulls earned victories in 10 of the 16 swimming events on Friday en route to the easy win.

The Bulls were led once again by a pair of seniors as Megan Burns earned three victories and Hannah Miller posted two victories in the team win over the Bonnies. Burns was able to earn victories in the 100 freestyle with a time of 51.65, the 200 freestyle in 1:52.85 while also anchoring the 200 freestyle relay team of Katelyn Burns, Sarah Baxter and Andrea Ernst that finished in 1:36.05. Fellow senior Hannah Miller continued her domination in distance freestyle races as she posted victories in the 500 freestyle in 5:13.07 and the 1000 freestyle in 10:21.67.

The Bulls were able to finish 1-2-3 in the 200 butterfly as freshman Sydnie Sovinsky took home first place in 2:06.89 followed by Saoirse Palu-Benson who finished in second in 2:07.39 while Victoria Butler claimed third place in 2:08.24. UB also went 1-2 in the 50 freestyle as Eve Kosten took home first place in 23.60 seconds and Jillian Lawton posted a second place finish in 23.70 seconds.

Freshman Nicole Roitenberg continued to impress as she claimed the victory in the 100 backstroke in 56.50 seconds while Grace Baumer posted a first place finish in the 200 breastroke in 2:24.67. In the 400 individual medley, Brittney Beetcher continued to swim strong as she claimed the win in 4:28.99.

Buffalo will return to the pool on Saturday at 11:00 am as they welcome Big 4 foe Niagara to the Alumni Arena Natatorium.
