Women’s Swimming Stays Perfect With 167-35 Win Over Niagara

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's swimming team (5-0, 2-0 MAC) earned the 167-35 victory over the Niagara Purple Eagles on Saturday afternoon inside the Alumni Arena Natatorium. The Bulls were able to win all 10 races on Saturday en route to the Big 4 victory.

Sophomore Katelyn Burns had herself a strong afternoon on Saturday as she was able to collect victories in the 100 freestyle and the 150 freestyle. Burns posted a victory in the 150 freestyle in 1:23.11 and in the 100 freestyle in 52.49 seconds. Buffalo was able to collect the top four finishers in the 150 freestyle as Sarah Baxter finished in 1:23.18 for second place while Eve Kosten and Hannah Miller finished in 1:23.79, tying for third.

Freshman Nicole Roitenberg also posted a pair of victories on Saturday as she won the 150 butterfly in 1:32.02 and the 150 backstroke in 1:30.73. Olivia Sapio continued her strong start to the season with a win in the 100 individual medley in a team-best time of 1:00.70 while Catherine Schultheis posted a win in the 50 freestyle in 24.32 seconds.

Brittany Beetcher was impressive in the 800 freestyle as she won the event in 8:13.59 while Megan Burns notched a win in the 400 freestyle in 4:00.77 and Sarah Baxter won the 150 breastroke in 1:45.42.

The Bulls had a pair of relays earn wins as the 200 medley relay team of Olivia Sapio, Sharne Tiller, Saoirse Palu-Benson and Catherine Schultheis finished in 1:50.94. UB also earned the win in the 200 freestyle relay as Megan Burns, Andrea Ernst, Hannah Miller and Sydnie Sovinsky finished in 1:38.20.

Buffalo will return to the pool on Saturday as they welcome MAC foe Miami (OH) to the Alumni Arena Natatorium. The meet will begin at 11:00 am on Saturday.
