Swimming & Diving Sits In 2nd Place After Day One Of MAC Championships

ATHENS, OH – The University at Buffalo women's swimming & diving team sits in second place after day one of the Mid-American Conference Championships in Athens, OH. The Bulls currently have 66 points while the Akron Zips sit in first place with 80 team points.

The Bulls opened the night with a third place finish in the 200 yard medley relay as the quartet of Andrea Ernst, Sarah Baxter, Olivia Sapio and Megan Burns posted a season-best time of 1:40.88, the seventh best time in program history in the event. The Bulls team came in behind Akron and Eastern Michigan.

In the second and final event of the night, the Bulls were able to earn 34 points as they posted a second place finish behind the Zips quartet of racers in the 800 yard freestyle relay. The Bulls team of Megan Burns, Hannah Miller, Sapio and Ernst finished in a season-best time of 7:15.48, the fourth fastest time in school history.

The Bulls will return to the Ohio University Aquatic Center on Thursday for the second day of the Championships. The events will begin with the 500 freestyle on Thursday morning.
