BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo women's tennis team swept the MAC's weekly awards on Wednesday afternoon as Tanvi Shah was named the Singles Player of the Week, while Shah and Miranda Podlas were named the MAC Women's Doubles Team of the Week.
Shah went a perfect 2-0 this past weekend at first singles as she improved her dual match record to 6-1. In the sweep over Colgate, Shah won easily 6-1, 6-0, while in the meeting with Binghamton she overcame a first-set loss by winning the second set, 6-4, and she was dominant in the third set, winning it 10-2. Shah is now 11-5 overall in singles this season.
In doubles, Shah and Podlas had a perfect 2-0 weekend at first doubles as they continued their undefeated streak in dual matches. In the win over Colgate, Shah and Podlas posted an easy 8-1 victory at first doubles, while they continued their dominating performance against Binghamton, winning, 8-2, at first doubles. Podlas and Shah are now a perfect 7-0 at first doubles and 12-3 overall on the season.
As a team, the Bulls are now 7-1 on the season and have won six straight matches. Of their seven wins this season, four have come by 7-0 shutouts.
UB remains home on Saturday afternoon when it hosts ASA College at Miller Tennis Center at 1:00 pm.
