BUFFALO, NY - The UB women's tennis rolled to its eighth win of the season Saturday afternoon, downing ASA College 5-2. The Bulls earned the doubles point, then won at second, third, fourth and sixth singles to clinch the win, its seventh straight.
The team clinched the doubles point after the duo of Margarita Kotok and Laura Holterbosch won 8-6 at third doubles. Tanvi Shah and Miranda Podlas also won at doubles for UB, taking the match at number one 8-5.
In singles, Marta Stoyanova breezed through her match at sixth singles, winning 6-2, 6-3. The team was forced to bump everyone up a slot in the lineup after Podlas would bow out to injury, and her replacement at second singles would also have an easy win. Kotok swept Daniela Vanko 6-1, 7-5 that would ultimately clinch the match with the fourth point and the 4-1 lead. Laura Fernandez gutted out a three-set win at third singles for the team's final win of the afternoon, beating Dayana Agasieva 6-2, 1-6, 6-3.
The team will have a pair of matches next weekend in the Sunshine state, taking on Hillsdale Saturday and Florida Atlantic on Sunday in Boca Raton.
