BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo's first doubles team of Tanja Stojanovska and Margarita Kotok finished the 2016-17 season ranked ninth in the Northeast Region, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced late Wednesday night when they unveiled their final regional rankings.
Stojanovska and Kotok finished with a 26-7 record this past year, including a 16-4 mark at first singles as they helped lead the Bulls to the Mid-American Conference Tournament title and a trip to the 2017 NCAA Tournament. They won all three of their matches at first doubles in the MAC Tournament, helping the Bulls to the doubles point each time.
They went 5-1 in conference play, twice having their matches unfinished. The pair also won two matches at the ITA Northeast Regionals back in the fall, before losing to their opponents from Penn in a tiebreaker.
Of the 10 doubles teams ranked in the Northeast, Stojanovska and Kotok are the only ones from a school that is not in the Ivy League, ACC, or Big East.
