Women’s Tennis Sweeps Niagara On Friday Night

WILLIAMSVILLE, NY – The University at Buffalo women's tennis team swept past Niagara on Friday night at the Miller Tennis Center, dominating in all the matches that were played.  UB won all three doubles contests and then all six singles matches in straight sets.

In doubles action, UB's number one team of Tanja Stojanovska and Anna Savchenko took care of business with a 6-0 sweep.  Chantal Martinez Blanco and Lolade Ogungbesan won at second doubles 6-4 and at third doubles, Emel Abibula and Arianna Paules Aldrey dropped just one game in a 6-1 victory.

UB had little trouble in singles where it swept all six matches.  Martinez Blanco came away with a 6-2, 6-3 win at one and Ogungbesan won at second singles, 7-5, 6-1.  Abibula had a 6-2, 7-6 (2) win at third singles.

On the bottom half of the singles lineup, UB dropped just four games combined.  Sanjana Sudhir won 6-1, 6-1 at fourth singles, while Savchenko recorded a 6-1, 6-1 victory at fifth singles.  Paules Aldrey capped off the night with a shutout at six, winning, 6-0, 6-0.

The Bulls are back in action on Saturday afternoon March 10, when they host Binghamton at the Miller Tennis Center at 1pm.
