TOLEDO, OH – The University at Buffalo women's tennis team lost their regular season finale at Toledo on Friday afternoon. The Bulls will now wait for teams to complete their regular season on Sunday to see where they will finish in the standings.
Toledo won the important doubles point with victories at one and two to take the early lead in the match, 1-0.
The two teams split the six matches in singles with the Bulls winning all three of their matches in straight sets, while the three matches won by Toledo all went into a third set.
Senior Chantal Martinez Blanco had little trouble at first singles as she dropped just two games in a 6-1, 6-1 victory, while freshman Pia Schwarz moved to second singles and won easily, 6-2, 6-0. Senior Sanjana Sudhir won at sixth singles, 6-4, 6-2.
The Rockets won matches at three, four and five to clinch the contest. The match at fourth singles went into a tiebreaker at third singles, which the Rockets won 7-5.
The Bulls will now wait for the conclusion of matches on Sunday to see if they will finish as one of the top six seeds and qualify for the upcoming MAC Tournament, which Buffalo will host beginning next Friday.
