LEWISTON, NY – The University at Buffalo volleyball team continued its season-long 16-match road trip on Tuesday evening, falling in four sets at Niagara.
The Purple Eagles took the contest, 25-19, 25-16, 23-25, 25-20 as they outhit the Bulls, .231 to .174. UB looked better in the second half of the match, getting out to sizeable leads in both the third and fourth sets, but were unable to send the match to five after Niagara went on a late run in the fourth.
Junior Cassie Shado led the Bulls with 12 kills and no errors on 20 attempts as she hit .600 on the night. Sophomore Valisha Watkins had nine kills and Amber Hatchett added seven. Freshman Rachel Sanks finished with six kills.
Freshman setter Scout McLerran had 35 assists to go along with eight digs and four blocks, while freshman Hannah Watson finished with a team-high 14 digs. Watkins and fellow sophomore Madison Clark each had 10 digs. Sophomore Megan Wernette added four blocks as well for Buffalo.
The Bulls will close out non-conference play this weekend when they head to Lewisburg, PA for the Bucknell Invitational. UB opens against Oakland on Friday at 5:00 pm.
