DEKALB, IL - The University at Buffalo volleyball team fell at MAC West-leading Northern Illinois on Friday night, 3-0. The victory was the 10th in a row for NIU and kept the Huskies perfect in conference play.
Northern Illinois took the contest 25-17, 25-16, 25-18 as the Huskies outhit the Bulls on the night, .326 to .035.
Sophomore Valisha Watkins had a team-high seven kills, but also added 10 errors on the evening, while sophomore Megan Wernette, who was making her first trip back to her home state, had five kills and hit a team-high .231. Junior Cassie Shado added four kills. Freshman Scout McLerran finished with 21 assists and had one kill.
Defensively, freshman Hannah Watson had a team-high nine digs, while fellow freshman Maddie Torbeck added eight, as did Watkins. In the blocking department, Shado and Wernette each finished with three blocks. All three of Shado's blocks came of the solo variety.
The Bulls remain on the road tomorrow night when they face Western Michigan at 7:00 pm. That match will air live on ESPN3.
