BUFFALO, NY – Head coach Blair Brown Lipsitz has announced the signing of Syracuse Transfer Polina Prokudina for the upcoming 2017 season. A native of Moscow, Russia, Prokudina played in 26 matches as a freshman for the Orange.
Prokudina is a 6-4 outside hitter, who had a career-high 16 kills last season against Virginia Tech. She notched her first collegiate double-double with 12 kills and 10 digs at Boston College. In all, she had 69 kills on 218 swings during her freshman campaign in the ACC, adding 48 digs and 12.0 blocks.
Prior to moving to the United States, Prokudina was a member of the team that won the Russian Country Championship in 2015. She won two silver medals at the championships in Moscow as well.
"We are very excited for Polina to join us this fall," said Lipsitz. "She has a great all-around game and steady presence on the court. She has been competitive in a strong conference and we are looking forward to her contributions in our gym this season."
Prokudina will become the sixth newcomer for the Bulls this year as she joins Andrea Mitrovic, Marija Babic, Larra Bickelhaupt, Kristina Nieves, and Vanessa Marinelli.
