BUFFALO, NY – Coming off an impressive opening weekend, the University at Buffalo volleyball team hits the road for the first time this year when they play a pair of matches at Seton Hall. The Bulls will play the host Pirates on Friday night at 7pm followed by a match against Rutgers on Saturday at 11am.
The Bulls went 2-1 during the first weekend of play as they were led by sophomore Polina Prokudina, who recorded 50 kills during the first three matches, averaging 4.55 kills per set. Freshman Andrea Mitrovic is right behind her as she is hitting .313 with 44 kills, while also sitting second on the team in digs. Sophomore Scout McLerran leads the team with 105 assists and junior Larra Bickelhaupt leads the team with 39 digs.
The trip to New Jersey will be a homecoming for Buffalo's leading blocker from last week Kristina Nieves, who hails from nearby Ringwood, NJ.
The Bulls will open with Seton Hall on Friday night in its home opener. The Pirates went 2-1 last weekend picking up an impressive 3-2 win at Oklahoma before splitting matches against Colorado and Northwestern State.
Rutgers is 3-1 on the year as the Scarlet Knights lost their season-opener to Georgia State before picking up wins over William & Mary, East Carolina, and most recently defeating Siena on Wednesday night.
