ATHENS, OH – The University at Buffalo volleyball team had its five-match win streak snapped on Saturday night as the Bulls fell at Ohio, 3-0. The Bulls are now 14-9 on the season and 7-5 in conference play, tied with the Bobcats.
Ohio took the contest 25-21, 25-18, 25-22 as the Bobcats outhit the Bulls, .310 to .198. Ohio led 6-2 early in the opening set and took a 20-14 advantage before the Bulls pulled within 23-21 following an Ohio service error. However, the Bobcats scored the final two points to claim the set.
Buffalo took a 10-9 lead in the second set, but a 9-2 Ohio run put the Bobcats up 18-12. The Bulls cut it to 23-18, but Ohio went on to win the set 25-18. UB and Ohio were tied at 11-11 in the third set before Ohio went ahead 15-12. The Bulls were able to fight off two set points before Ohio won the third set 25-22.
Andrea Mitrovic and Megan Wernette led the Bulls with 12 kills apiece. Mitrovic had just two errors as she hit .345 and Wernette hit a team-high .450. Mitrovic also led the Bulls defensively with 15 digs. Polina Prokudina added nine kills.
The Bulls will conclude their five-match road trip on Thursday night when they head to Akron for a 7pm match.
