BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo, State University of New York cross country and track & field director and head coach Vicki Mitchell announced the signing of four student-athletes to National Letters of Intent.
Three distance runners signed with the Bulls including Rachel Barich out of Blessed Trinity Secondary in Beamsville, Ontario, Itai Bezherano out of Walter Johnson High School in Bethesda, MD, and Adam Hunt out of Fayetteville Manlius High School in Manlius, NY. Additionally, jumper and hurdler Crystal Henderson from Longwood High School in Middle Island, NY inked to join the UB T&F team.
"Rachel has incredible strength in cross country and distance events," said Mitchell. "Continuing our Canadian pipeline of strong distance runners, Rachel will join the Bulls this fall with a resume filled with top performances at the OFSAA Championships. She will add strength to both our cross country program and distance events on the track."
Barich will be majoring in exercise science with a focus in nutrition.
"We are excited to welcome Itai to our men's distance program. He is one of the Maryland's top cross country runners," praised Mitchell. "On the track, Itai was the runner-up at the 2015 Maryland State Indoor T&F Championships in the 3,200 and has a very promising future. He will add depth to our men's distance team as we continue to build towards winning the MAC Championships."
Bezherano plans to major in the sciences.
"Adam will be a great addition to our men's distance squad and will specialize in the distance events on the track," stated Mitchell. "He comes from a powerhouse cross country program at the famed Fayetteville Manlius HS. Adam was part of the 2014 Nike Team National Championship Team and helped lead his team to another New York State Championship title in November."
Hunt plans to major in history.
"We are thrilled to have Crystal joining our jumps and hurdle squads. She will have a tremendous impact on our team," Mitchell said. "Crystal had a break-through indoor season in the horizontal jumps with a personal best of 39'10" in the triple Jump. She was also a state finalist in the 100HH and a strong long jumper as well."
Henderson will be majoring in psychology/criminology.
