OXFORD, OH – The University at Buffalo cross country teams concluded action in the 2017 MAC Championships on Saturday at Miami (OH) with the women collecting a fifth place finish and the men taking home sixth place. Sophomore Stephanie Ward was able to earn First Team All-MAC honors after collecting a third place finish in the women's 6K race.
Ward led the way at the MAC Championships for the Bulls once again as she was able to earn All-MAC honors for the second straight season. The sophomore was able to claim third place in 20:53.4 while senior Morgan Mahoney finished in 16th place in 21:32.1. Sylvia Russell had a strong race as she collected a 24th place finish in 21:48.2 and Charlotte Molloy finished in 42nd place in 22:20.5.
The women were able to garner their second highest finish at the MAC Championships as they collected the fifth place finish with a score of 137. Buffalo finished right behind Northern Illinois (125) and Miami (OH) (115) while Eastern Michigan collected the team title once again with a score of 45.
On the men's side, sophomore William Hilbert was able to collect the highest finish of any UB runner as he took home 18th place in 25:15.8. Jack Jibb had a strong race as he earned 20th place in 25:21.2 while Dan Muldoon gathered 37th place in 25:45.5. Two other UB runners were able to post top-50 times as Christopher Nowak took 38th place in 25:46.8 and senior John McCarthy notched a 44th place finish in 25:55.8.
The Bulls were able to earn the sixth place finish as they earned a team score of 151. The Bulls finished closely behind Akron (128) and Ohio (127) while the Eastern Michigan men collected the team title again with a score of 24.
The Bulls will return to action on Friday, November 10 as they will host the NCAA Northeast Regional Championships at the Audobon Golf Course in Amherst. For all the info on the NCAA Regional meet next Friday, click HERE.
