Cross Country Announces The Signing Of Cal Puskar To NLI

BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo Track and Field director and head coach Vicki Mitchell has announced the signing of Cal Puskar to a National Letter of Intent to attend UB and compete for the Bulls in the fall of 2018.

"We are excited to announce the signing of Cal Puskar, from Orchard Park High School," stated Vicki Mitchell. "We recognize the importance of keeping our top local talent in Buffalo, and Cal hails from the same high school as the Men's Distance Coach, Todd Witzleben: Orchard Park. Cal understands the commitment required to be successful at the next level.  We are looking forward to helping Cal achieve his goals under our program. "

Puskar comes to Buffalo from nearby Orchard Park high school where he is one of the area's best long distance runners. Puskar is the #3 ranked returning mile runner in New York State for the 2017-18 season as his tenacity has helped him flourish into one of the top cross country runners in the state.

The local product recently wrapped up his cross country season in his senior year with a Section 6 championship in the 5K race as he finished in 16:11.40. He then took home 38th place in the NYSPHSAA Class A State XC Championships in the middle of November. During his junior season, Puskar was able to collect the Section 6 title in the 3,200 meter run as he finished with a personal best time of 9:36.39.
