BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo Cross Country Programs are gearing up to return to action this weekend as the teams will be competing in two events across the northeast.
Things get started for the Bulls on Friday at 4:30 pm as the UB men head to Princeton, N.J. to compete in the Princeton Invitational. The event, which is held annually, will be the first time in several years that Buffalo has competed in it, and provides a great opportunity for a talented Bulls squad to face off against some of the best talent in the northeast.
"We are working to close the gap from our number one to our number five runner, and Princeton will provide us the opportunity to run against some great competition on a fast course", said men's distance coach Todd Witzleben. "This is the next step as we prepare to compete for the MAC Championships title in just over two weeks." The meet will be held at West Windsor Fields, which features a manicured grass loop and a variety of different terrains.
Following Friday's meet, members of the UB Men's and Women's teams will square off in the Canisius Alumni Classic on Saturday held in Buffalo's Delaware Park. Last year, Buffalo was able to claim the top spot in the event with 28 points edging out the hosts from Canisius as they took home second place with 35 points. UB senior Dan Muldoon led the way for the Bulls in the event, collecting a season-best finish of third place as he crossed the line in 25:26.30. The meet gets underway at noon.
